Base pay range $80,000.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr
Position Purpose The DC Area Supervisor leads an hourly team and influences the entire distribution center to perform the fast‑paced work required to run the center safely, efficiently and productively. This role handles management responsibilities for 20–30 hourly associates, including hiring, evaluation, development, discipline, and termination. It ensures prompt, efficient and accurate handling of merchandise while establishing and implementing team goals.
Key Responsibilities
Managing Processes (45%) – Ensures all operational procedures are followed effectively, identifies necessary changes, and recommends improvements to the Operations Manager and/or Assistant General Manager. Evaluates current work methods and proposes ways to eliminate inefficiencies.
Coaching and Developing Associates (25%) – Guides associates in daily operations, monitors productivity, safety, service, and quality. Provides training, coaching, and feedback, conducts regular evaluations, and resolves associate‑relations issues. Responsible for hiring, compensation, discipline, and terminations in the assigned department.
Drives Results (15%) – Maintains inventory accuracy and control; reviews reports to identify areas for improvement in key metrics such as productivity, accuracy, quality, and expenses.
Business Planning (15%) – Coordinates and monitors operations to ensure performance and production rates align with the business plan, reducing irregularities and losses. Reviews reports and business metrics to analyze and plan staffing needs for optimal department operations.
Additional Responsibilities – Other duties as assigned by Operations Manager, Assistant General Manager, or General Manager.
Direct Manager/Direct Reports
Reports to the Operations Manager.
Accountable for supervising the work of others, including shift or multiple work group coordination. Makes recommendations concerning selection, termination, performance appraisal, and professional development.
Travel Requirements Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements Requires intermittent periods of continuous physical exertion, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.
Working Conditions Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Flexibility to work various shifts.
Ability to relocate.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
Computer skills in Microsoft Office.
Experience with Warehouse Management Systems.
3+ years supervisory experience in a related field.
Minimum Education High school diploma and/or GED.
Preferred Education No additional education.
Minimum Years Of Work Experience 2 years.
