Position Overview Our assistant quality control manager helps ensure projects maintain the highest level of quality by implementing testing and inspections, coordinating commissioning and owner trainings, and ensuring compliance with specifications, federal, state, and local codes, and installation techniques. This position supervises the work of others including quality control trainees and quality control inspectors.
Duties / Responsibilities
Oversee project construction for compliance with specifications, federal, state, local codes, and installation techniques.
Coordinate the commissioning process.
Perform QC inspections for all divisions on site and at vendors' shops.
Coordinate owner training requirements.
Coordinate QA/QC efforts with construction and engineering staff.
Ensure QA/QC efforts are coordinated with the project schedule.
Create and review quality plans, commissioning plan, and submittals.
Implement inspection plans and monitor progress.
Assist in the supervision of activities of QA/QC personnel on assigned projects.
Assist in scheduling functions as required.
Assist in training and development of QA/QC workforce.
Develop project specific QA/QC and commissioning documents.
Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
Perform other duties and services to ensure projects are delivered successfully and client is satisfied.
Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
Education and Training
High school diploma (or equivalent) supplemented by trade school and/or college‑level coursework in construction, engineering, or related field.
Four years of journey‑level experience as a construction inspector, trade foreman, or assistant superintendent; or a combination of training and experience.
Extensive experience in the management of larger construction projects with significant self‑performance.
Experience with healthcare, higher education, and/or laboratory projects with a commercial general contractor preferred.
Extensive knowledge of means and methods – significant emphasis on MEP work.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
Ability to communicate technical material to a non‑technical audience.
Additional Abilities
Lift 50 pounds.
Move 100 pounds.
Work under exposure to inclement weather conditions.
Climb scaffolds and ladders.
Walk a project to supervise installed work.
Drive vehicles for company business.
Ability to walk several flights of stairs on high‑rise buildings.
