ORION
Position Summary
This position is accountable for providing marine project support to Orion. Incumbents are responsible for supervising daily on-going operations on the work barge and ensuring that all work performed is done in a safe and efficient manner. Typically, this individual will work closely with the Project Superintendent, Project (Field) Engineer, Safety Representative, Boat Captain, Pile Driver, Welders, Carpenters, Laborers, and other skilled or semi-skilled craft persons on the work site.
The incumbent must support the guiding beliefs and core values of Orion which are centered on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Teamwork, most importantly with each built upon the all-important foundation of Integrity.
Specific Responsibilities
Works as assigned by the Project Superintendent to ensure the successful completion of current on-going marine construction projects.
Oversees the movement of marine floating rigs from location to location.
Receives and handles material and equipment which may be required for the marine operation and is involved in operations such as:
Pile driving
Marine loading arms
Stevedoring
Miscellaneous dock repairs
Ensures proper falsework is constructed if required.
Makes certain that proper permits are in hand prior to any activity and inspects equipment visually to ensure that it is operating properly.
Ensures all Orion Safety Policies are followed.
Trains new workers in use of equipment and tools and analyzes and resolves work problems.
Maintains time records for employees in the work crew and supervises and coordinates activities of employees in the work crew.
Utilizes positive and negative pressure respirators and/or SCBA respiratory equipment as per customer job and/or contract requirements.
Demonstrates safety knowledge concerning chemical and/or process hazards associated with construction work.
Works closely with the General Foreman, Crane Operators, Helpers, and other skilled crafts persons to complete current projects in a safe and efficient manner.
Ensures participation in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.

Position Requirements
A minimum of five (5) years marine construction experience on a work barge or equivalent experience in a marine construction supervisory capacity is needed. Incumbents must be well-versed in receiving and handling of equipment used for marine operations. In addition, incumbents must have knowledge of the integration of various crafts to successfully perform their work.
Craft knowledge should include piledriving, crane operations, welding, carpentry, sandblasting, pipefitting, and related areas. Incumbents should also be trained and certified in First Aid and CPR.
Physical/Mental Requirements
The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.
The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required.
Walking, stepping, climbing, or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another.
Standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, climbing, or sitting for long periods of time.
Climbing vertical ladders to heights of 40'-50'.
Working in confined spaces and/or elevated heights.
Lifting and carrying objects up to 50 lbs. as required.
Adapting to extreme temperature changes, outdoor conditions, and prolonged exposure.
