Overview

Equipment Operator Journey 2 (Cantwell, AK) is a seasonal position in the Denali District with responsibilities for maintenance of State highways and airports, equipment operation, and related duties. The role may involve shift work, emergency responses, varied weather and terrain, and independent or team work. Safety and ongoing training are priorities. What you will be doing

Operating and servicing heavy and light-duty equipment for the maintenance of State highways and airports within the District. Maintaining road surfaces, vegetation, signs, culverts, bridges, fences, and drainage structures within the Alaska Right-of-Way. Performing traffic control duties, including flagging. Operating graders for ditching, blading, and snow plowing operations. Driving semi-tractor with belly dump, dozers, loaders, and water tankers on gravel surfaces. Operating 8-yard dump trucks with sander units for winter plowing and hauling aggregate in summer. Operating dozers (D4 to D7) for material removal and placement. Conducting welding and cutting for equipment maintenance and repairs. Performing miscellaneous duties such as vehicle maintenance, flagging, manual labor, and shop cleanup. Operating steam boilers for thawing drainage structures. Qualifications

A Class A Alaska Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with N-Tanker endorsement is required at time of hire. A conditional hire approval can be given to obtain N-Tanker within 90 days and to sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment. Possession of a current CDL and endorsements as applicable; must comply with federal and state drug and alcohol policies (including pre-employment testing). Commercial Driver's License Regulations: must register with the CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse before performing safety-sensitive duties. Eligibility for Alaska residency as required by recruitment rules. Education and work experience documentation as required by the application process (transcripts may be requested). Experience with operating tracked dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, 5th wheel tractors, dump trucks, sanders, graders, snow removal equipment, passenger buses, equipment trailers, and skid steers.
