Responsibilities
Perform licensed DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, light and follow-up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned.
Perform more advanced diagnostics and repairs under the supervision of a Sr Mobile Diesel Technician or higher.
Learn additional advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques; comply with all company policies and meet high performance metrics.
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow-up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
Perform minor adjustments and repairs on electrical, braking, cooling systems, starters/alternators, fuel system components, engine electronics, transmissions, clutches, differentials, and related systems.
Diagnose, inspect, test, and listen to equipment to identify malfunctions using hand tools, test instruments, and computer diagnostics.
Road test vehicles to verify repairs and proper operation.
Manage parts inventory on the company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle, including safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections.
Engage with clients to assess needs and provide information, assistance, and issue resolution.
Prioritize and manage multiple tasks and schedules effectively.
Document work and parts used on Repair Orders (RO) using the company-issued iOS device and TRAIT application; complete DOT forms and other documentation timely.
Work independently with a daily schedule and strive to meet standard repair times.
Obtain parts from approved vendors as necessary for scheduled repairs.
Communicate with management and support teams to obtain approvals and discuss RO findings.
Adhere to safety, health, and environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
Requirements
High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; or 5 years’ related experience.
Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.
Must be able to pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical.
Current and valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining, or be able to complete a DOT physical as required.
Must be at least 21 years of age due to interstate operating authority regulations.
Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
