A Transportation Engineer 1 supports a project's PM's and team through efficient plan production. Must be a self-motivated individual that works well in a team-oriented environment.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Proficiency in developing roadway & sidewalk plans for all types of transportation projects.
Basic understanding of hydrology and watershed management.
Ability to efficiently develop phased E&SC plans & BMP design.
A firm understanding and consistent application of SEI/GDOT standards.
Ability to quickly grasp and apply new design procedures/ordinances.
Ability to grasp storm & water design (plan & profile).
Ability to evaluate, create, modify horizontal & vertical alignments, Superelevation, geometric design, and design basic transportation improvements in support of civil engineering projects, including widenings, entrances, turn lanes, accel/decel lanes, pedestrian facilities, etc.
Knowledge of local state, county ordinances, including ADA.
Basic surveying knowledge and ability to interpret and evaluate the quality of survey data and documentation.
Accurate quantity takeoffs.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Additional duties as assigned.
Experience, Proficiencies, Skills and Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Transportation Engineering or equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university.
Minimum 1 year of related design experience.
Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) in Georgia preferred within 1 year of employment.
Working knowledge of MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Must possess a current, valid driver’s license and Social Security Card or other documentation for E-Verify.
