HNS Compliance Specialist Department: Housing & Neighborhood Services Department

Salary: $65,196.00 - $81,495.00 (Commensurate with experience)

Job Overview This role is part of the Housing & Neighborhood Services Department, a team dedicated to creating vibrant, diverse neighborhoods through community engagement, code enforcement, housing services, and youth development. The Compliance Specialist will ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and provide exceptional customer service to colleagues and partners.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Assist in reviewing department contracts before execution.

Assist with training delivery as needed for regulatory compliance.

Assist with reviewing department financial partners’ funding requests.

Review department financial and program audits in accordance with HUD’s Financial Management Regulations for funded contracts.

Ensure contracts with CBI goals meet reporting and compliance requirements.

Assist with monitoring and entering performance measures into the City’s reporting system.

Research and fulfill public records requests.

Process employee travel and P‑card reconciliation.

Assist the Finance team with contract processing in the City’s financial system.

Ability to manage internal and external customers, vendors, and contractors.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in accounting or business administration with an emphasis in finance.

Experience administering federal grants.

Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus, but not required.

Minimum Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent and five years related work experience, or an associate’s degree and three years related work experience, or a bachelor’s degree and one year related work experience, or a master’s degree; all with knowledge of Microsoft Office.
