Family Engagement Specialist Clarvida is seeking a Family Engagement Specialist (FES) to perform family finding efforts for youth in congregate care referred by the Department of Child Safety. The role promotes family/fictive kin connections and placements through the Fostering Sustainable Connections Program.

Responsibilities

Accept referred families from FES Supervisor.

Deliver all elements of the Fostering Sustainable Connections Program as per the Arizona Department of Child Safety FSC Program Manual.

Conduct Discovery and Engagement, Blended Perspectives Meeting, and Team Decision Meetings per the program outline.

Meet with youth and the youth’s team per the FSC Scope of Work; initial engagement lasts 180 days with potential 90‑day extensions.

Ensure all services, procedures, and forms are culturally relevant, linguistically appropriate and gender responsive (including LGBTQ considerations).

Carry a caseload of an average of fifteen youth.

Report any abuse or neglect and submit Incident Reports to DCS, Program Director, HRT’s Compliance Department, and Program Supervisor.

Complete client documentation in the HRT client database according to contract deadlines.

Attend and complete a minimum of 15 hours of job‑related training per the FSC Program Manual.

Ensure safety, health, and welfare of staff and clients at all times.

Model and uphold program norms without compromise.

Act as a positive role model and mentor for youth and their supports.

Treat others with respect, confront negative behavior, and support confrontation.

Participate in all required meetings, including individual supervision and monthly group supervision.

Travel Requirements

60% travel throughout assigned counties.

Required Education And/Or Experience

Associate degree in Social Work and one year of experience in social work or a related field.

Ability to obtain and maintain a valid unrestricted Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Minimum age requirement of 18 years.

Must be a safe driver with a current Arizona State Driver’s License and acceptable driving record for the past 3–5 years.

Must have personal vehicle liability insurance and vehicle registration as required.

No driving while intoxicated (DWI/DUI) during the life of the contract or in the preceding 5 years.

No at‑fault accidents during the life of the contract or in the preceding 5 years.

No more than two moving violations during the life of the contract or in the preceding 5 years.

No more than one excessive speed violation per A.R.S. §28‑701.02 during the life of the contract or in the preceding 5 years.

Must pass a DCS clearance with no substantiated reports.

Must pass a criminal background clearance check, drug screen, and if requested a physical exam.

Must obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification.

Strong knowledge of the FSC process, practice, and components.

Ability to instruct clients in child development, home management, personal problem solving, accessing community services, domestic violence issues, appropriate discipline, childcare techniques, and age‑appropriate parenting skills.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS

Language skills: respond effectively with professionalism, sensitivity, and empathy to linguistic, cultural, social, economic, and individual differences.

Strong organization, time‑management, and multi‑tasking skills; work independently and as part of a team.

Reasoning ability: assess unique situations, develop and apply strategies, interpret contracts, ensure compliance, and provide exemplary service to employees and constituents.
