Job Description
Plans and directs the activities of a minor athletic team. Directs conditioning of student athletes to achieve maximum athlete performance, assesses players' skills and assigns team positions, evaluates own and opposition team capabilities to determine game strategy, and coaches or directs coaches to instruct players in techniques of game.
Head Coach Track and Field
Frostburg State University (FSU), Athletics Department seeks applications for a full-time, exempt Head Coach of Track and Field. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Position includes the robust University System of Maryland benefits package, which is comprised of annual, personal, and sick leave, holidays, tuition remission, health, dental, vision, and life insurance, and retirement plans.
Responsibilities: The purpose of the head indoor/outdoor track and field coach is to administer all aspects of all 4 programs. The Head Coach position will manage and oversee the daily operations of all 4 programs including practice, gameday activities, recruiting, budget management, academic monitoring and mentoring of student-athletes. The Head Coach will recruit and retain a roster of 24 non-distance student-athletes on both the men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field teams. These student-athletes are expected to be successful in the classroom, socially responsible, and competitive within the Mountain East Conference and NCAA Division II. This position is expected to work collaboratively with the Head Cross Country Coach who will serve as an assistant for Track and Field.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. At least 3-5 years of coaching experience at the high school and/or collegiate level. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Proven ability to recruit student-athletes.
Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree and professional certification via United States Track and Field (USATF) or United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Professional experience coaching track and field and cross country at high school and/or collegiate levels.
