Equipment Operator Journey 2 – Full-Time (Cordova, Alaska)

Keep Alaska Moving!

Responsibilities

Operate 8-yard dump trucks with plow, sander, and blade attachments for snow removal and aggregate hauling

Use motor graders for ditching, surface repair, and snow operations

Transport heavy equipment with semi-tractors, lowboys, belly dumps, and water tankers

Operate dozers (D4–D7), loaders, and snow blowers for material handling and snow removal

Perform loader work in pits, snow dumping, and material loading

Handle general duties: flagging, maintenance, manual labor, and shop cleanup

May act as lead, entering daily data into the State MMS system

Operate steam boilers to thaw drainage structures

Weld and cut materials for equipment maintenance and repair

Working Environment This is a

full-time position

located in Cordova, Alaska, within the Valdez District. Expect a dynamic, fast‑paced environment with varied responsibilities and conditions. You’ll work independently and as part of a team, often in challenging weather or terrain. Shift work and emergency responses are part of the role, and safety is a priority. Our supportive team and ongoing training ensure you have the tools to succeed in any situation.

Application Requirements

A current copy of your CDL with endorsements

Alaska Commercial Driver's License (Class A) is required at time of hire. Conditional hire approval can only be given for endorsements. This means that the proposed appointee must successfully obtain their N‑Tanker endorsement within 90 days of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.

Must comply with the DOT&PF Drug and Alcohol Policy and procedures. CANNOT start work in a CDL position until a required Pre‑Employment drug test is passed.
