Sun River Health is a Federally Qualified, Non-Profit Health Center serving communities in Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia and Westchester County. Sun River Health is currently seeking a Full-time WIC Qualified Nutritionist to join our team in Middletown, NY.
Responsibilities
Provides WIC Registration Nutrition Assessment and counseling to staff of the WIC program at the assigned site(s).
Delivers nutrition education for individuals and groups and performs job duties in compliance with system and job-specific standards.
Utilizes a participant-centered approach including opened questions, affirmations, eye contact, reflective listening and probing questions to complete assessments.
Completes all mandated and non-mandated questions, assigns appropriate risks, and reviews risks with the participant in a sensitive manner.
Reviews previously gathered information to follow up and determine if revisions are needed.
Provides positive input into the development of program policies and procedures and actively promotes positive language and participant-centered services throughout the workplace.
Documents in NYWIC clearly and concisely regarding special formulas and exceptional cases.
Promotes breastfeeding as the normal method of infant feeding and provides guidance to participants with breastfeeding problems.
Completes additional tasks by deadlines or in a timely manner as assigned.
Utilizes tools and materials provided, such as common drive materials, scripts and dialogues.
Responsible for off-site work and reporting as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition required; Master’s in Nutrition preferred.
Required Specialized Skills & Knowledge: CPR/BLS required; Registered Dietitian preferred.

Salary: $27.00-$30.00 per hour
