DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides the oversight and supervision of licensed practical nurses (LPN), LPN school nurses, and health clerks under the guidance of the Director of Health Services. Coordinates substitute nurses schedules to ensure division-wide clinic coverage. Serves as substitute school nurse as needed. Assist LPNs in the development of individual healthcare plans (IHP). Attends IEP and/or 504 meetings with LPNs as needed. Assists the Director of Health Services in the development and presentation of onboarding materials for new staff members and continued professional development. Provides the oversight and supervision for Medicaid requirements in coordination with the Medicaid specialist. Assists the Director of Health Services, as needed, in the evaluation of LPNs and health clerks.?
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Requires a minimum of an Associate'sDegree in Nursing as well as a Virginia Registered Nurse License. At least five years of experience in school nursing, preferred. CPR certification (AHA - BLS for Healthcare Providers). Work requires normal physical attributes required for walking, standing, sitting, operating office and communication equipment. Sufficient mobility and dexterity to respond quickly to medical emergencies and to administer medication and/or perform first aid and CPR. Ability to positively interact, collaborate and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with coworkers, students, parents, school officials and the general public. Ability to stand for long periods of time; heavy lifting up to 100 lbs. may be required in lifting and/or carrying students or moving equipment; standing, twisting, turning, pushing, pulling, bending, crawling, crouching, stooping, and kneeling may be required while assessing medical conditions of students. Ability to attend after-hours meetings/events, as required.

POSITION INFORMATION: Supervisor: Ms. Carrie Battista, Director of Health Services Employment Period: 10 months Employment Status: Temporary Pay Rate: RN: $140/day LPN: $110/day Start Date: Immediately
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides emergency medical care through screening and consultation for students, staff, and faculty, assessing the extent of injury and/or illness and recommending additional treatment/referral. Provides routine medical care for students, staff, and faculty, such as administering medication as prescribed by physician and permitted by parent/guardian. Coordinates procedures for sending an ill/injured student home or to medical treatment facilities. Creates and implements healthcare plans on students with special healthcare needs. Conducts routine screening as required by Virginia regulations, including referrals and follow-up. Serves as a health resource person to school and community. Processes necessary paperwork and assists with medicals and medical information required for child study and eligibility meetings. Serves on specialized committees as needed. Promotes wellness through publications, presentations, and visits to classrooms. Serves as an integral part of the school action team. Communicates with students, staff, faculty, other medical resource persons, and parents/guardians to share information and to determine appropriate actions. Utilizes equipment and professional knowledge for assessments and interventions; utilizes general office equipment and computers to record assessments and interventions, and prepare and present medical information and materials. Administers all treatments prescribed by the student's physician within the guidelines of the Virginia Nurse Practice Act (such as catheterization, glucose testing, tube feeding, suctioning, and care of colostomy). Attends child study/eligibility team meetings upon request. Orders and maintains supplies.
