$76,300.07 annually
( $70,000 base plus a 9% EMT-P Stipend ) the Town of Acton has openings for the position of Paramedic. As a paramedic, you will play a vital role in delivering advanced pre-hospital care. You will receive general supervision from higher level supervisory and management staff and exercise functional and technical supervision over assigned staff. This is a 42 hour/week position is responsible for advanced life support emergency medical care, rescue and other emergency and non-emergency duties.
The Town of Acton Fire Department offers rotating overtime, an educational stipend, paid vacation (accrual system), personal and sick time, and more! General Duties and Responsibilities:
Respond safely to medical emergencies. Assess patients, determine medical needs, and provide advanced life support as required. Administer medications, treatments, and procedures in line with MA OEMS protocols and Acton Fire Emergency Medical Services SOPs. Operate and maintain emergency vehicles and medical equipment. Maintain a high level of readiness through training. Physical Demands:
The work of a paramedic is physically and mentally demanding, requiring the ability to perform under stressful situations. Essential physical requirements include: Ability to lift, carry, and move patients and equipment Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tight spaces Capability to perform prolonged life-saving procedures that require significant physical excretion Ability to work in varying weather conditions Minimum Entrance Requirements : Massachusetts Paramedic Certification, ACLS, CPR, PALS, Driver’s License and a minimum of GED Special Requirements:
Advanced emergency medical procedures and patient assessment techniques. Arithmetic computations and formulas. Correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation. Computer applications involving word processing, data entry and/or standard report generation. Techniques for dealing with a variety of individuals from various socioeconomic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, often in situations which may be stressful. Benefits:
