One year’s work commitment required. **Purpose of this position:** Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, performs a variety of technical and clerical duties allowable by law, while maintaining a favorable image of the pharmacy within the hospital and in the community**RESPONSIBILITIES:*** Answers phones for the pharmacy department and directs calls to appropriate personnel* Maintains knowledge of the Hospital Credit and Collection Policy and other related policies* Prepackages, prepares, labels, and hands out prescriptions after they are checked by a registered pharmacist* Maintains cash registers, credit card machines, and reporting for cash transactions* Prepares daily deposits for the cashier’s office* Bills and credits patient medications* Stocks inventory in Pharmacy* Routinely checks and removes outdated and expired medications* Delivers medications to patient care and ancillary areas and picks up new orders as scheduled* Files prescriptions and reports* Maintains the pharmacy in a clean and organized fashion* Enters outpatient prescriptions* Obtains and records patient drug histories* Triages orders, determines priorities, processes orders, and notifies the pharmacist as appropriate* Performs various calculations to determine the correct dose using weight* Identifies the appropriate product to process based on the prescription order* Triages insurance rejections and initiates prior authorization claims as needed* Uses appropriate pharmaceutical-medical terms, abbreviations, and symbols* Maintains a working knowledge of general chemical and physical properties of drugs* Compounding medications as per Minnesota Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations* Is responsible for safe and careful handling of chemotherapeutic medications* Assists with other duties as assigned but only after appropriate trainingWe are currently seeking a **Pharmacy Tech** to join our Clinic and Specialty Center Community Pharmacy team. This position is full-time with benefits, 80 hours per pay period, day/evening shift and every 3rd
weekend. * High School Diploma or GE***Preferred Qualifications:**** Computer skills* Knowledge of Pharmacy computer systems* Insurance and Billing Experience* Experience working with specialty medications in a health system setting* Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program or a 240-hour employer-based Technician training Program or 1,000 hours of Pharmacy experienc***Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:**** Ability to communicate with other employees and public* Possesses strong interpersonal skills, is a team player, and promotes positive team environment* Excellent customer service skills* Demonstrates good decision making skills, problem solving techniques, and possesses the ability to prioritize multiple tasks* Ability to use a computer and associated programs* Ability to understand oral and written instructions* Ability to learn and apply pharmacy procedures and interpret prescriptions* Ability to apply basic math skills* Some skill in record keeping* Ability to use computer effectively***License/Certifications:**** Current Pharmacy Technician Registration with MN State Board* PTCB or ExCPT pharmacy tech certification within 1 year of date of hire, paid for by employee-OR-* Current Intern License with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy**QUALIFICATIONS:**
