The Laboratory Technician is responsible for carrying out analytical methods and standard operating practices without supervision to a high degree of precision and accuracy, ensuring that an effective and high-quality analytical service is provided to meet reporting deadlines on the various types of samples/commodities. RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensuring at all times that a high degree of accuracy and precision is applied to methods and procedures through incorporating and promoting good laboratory practice principles. Responsible for ensuring that work throughput is followed in accordance with documented methods, procedures and timescales. Ensuring relevant equipment checks have been completed and deemed fit for purpose. Advising the Senior Laboratory Technician or Technical Manager of repetitive problems in connection with training and development objectives that manifest during the execution of day-to-day analytical methods and procedures and associated standard operating practices. Maintaining records and laboratory data in agreement with the Senior Laboratory Technician and Technical Manager such that work is clearly and easily auditable and traceable. Processing analytical data unsupervised in preparation of results being checked and authorised prior to reporting. Assisting the Senior Laboratory Technician and Technical Manager in updating the post holders training record at every training milestone, while maintaining competency training records as a record of achievement beyond the initial 12 months training and development. Take full responsibility for your own training records. Undertaking other duties of an appropriate nature in consultation with the Senior Laboratory Technician or Technical Manager. Ensuring that all laboratory work areas and work stations are kept clean and tidy. Ensuring stocks of consumables are monitored and replenished in a timely manner. Ensuring that all PPE and health and safety procedures are adhered to, in line with the laboratory code of practice. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Show enthusiasm for their work and possess a drive to succeed. Understand the requirements for accurate, on-time delivery of analytical results. Ability to demonstrate literacy (strong written and spoken communication skills in English.) and be numerate (ability to perform basic mathematical calculations). Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Keen interest in Chemistry and/or other scientific principles. Ability to demonstrate a high degree of manual dexterity. Understand differing analytical requirements from client-to-client. Be able to use computer based laboratory management systems. Flexible and adaptable with the ability to operate and contribute effectively in a fast paced, changing environment. Ability to demonstrate operational skills: a “doer” and hands-on individual who likes to “roll their sleeves up” and get things done. High level of interpersonal skills: Emotionally intelligent, persuasive and articulate, enabling cooperation and collaboration at all levels. Accomplished expertise in communicating up, down and laterally in a clear and concise manner. Accomplished ability to understand, interpret and execute given guidance with minimal supervision. Attention to detail. A team player, working alongside others with positivity and respect. Presenting a positive attitude and taking pride in their work. Good timekeeping. Ability to work with minimum supervision and be able to use your own initiative. A willingness to take full ownership of the role and to go above and beyond. Required Work Experience

Working experience with Microsoft and Google Suite. Previous laboratory experience and/or working with analytical instrumentation (preferred) Experience with LIMS (Strong Computer skills preferred). Required Qualifications

Science Degree (Chemistry preferred). Relevant experience in lieu of a degree will be considered. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen. Physical Demands

The employee may need to stand or sit for long periods of time. The employee is required to frequently walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Travel / Rotation Requirements

Prepared to travel both nationally and internationally if necessary. BENEFITS
