A global leading manufacturer is seeking an application barrier coatings chemist to join their team in the development of barrier coatings. If you have a bachelor's degree in chemistry and a few years of industry experience in formulating and testing barrier coatings in a manufacturing setting, this could be a great opportunity for you!
Responsibilities:
Conduct application testing of various products according to standard test methods or coating experiments designed by others. Ensure timely completion of product development projects following department guidelines and supervisor priorities. Operate all equipment and lab apparatus safely and maintain a clean workspace. Accurately record, organize, and communicate experimental and testing results. Analyze data, draw conclusions, and make product recommendations for customers. Participate in troubleshooting and provide technical support to the sales team and customers. Maintain lab areas, storage, and equipment properly. Follow all waste handling procedures. Provide technical training as needed. Perform research related to new product development, characterization, and laboratory testing. Manage customer inquiries promptly. Serve as a resource for the Technical Service Group, Quality Control, and Production. Comply with ISO 9001 requirements. Perform other duties as assigned. Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, material science, or equivalent with at least 5 years of experience in a development laboratory or specialty chemical technical center. Experience in water-based barrier coatings and/or paper mill coatings development, including application and testing (oil and grease resistance, moisture vapor resistance, oxygen transmission rate). Ability to follow safety, environmental, and regulatory policies. Proficiency with sensitive test equipment such as Moccon, COBB, COF, Sutherland rub, Brookfield, etc. Background in the graphic arts industry or water-based coating applications with barrier technology is a plus. Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects effectively. Ability to work independently and in teams. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Self-motivated and proactive.
