Job Summary The Sterile Processing Technician II is a certified technician whose areas of responsibilities cover decontaminating, assembling, sterilizing, storing, and distributing surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment according to established standards/guidelines. The SP Tech II demonstrates personal and professional effectiveness when working in an indirect patient care department and addressing the request of the customer or provider.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED

Certifications

Hold one of the following certifications or obtain within one year of hire: CRCST, CSPDT, CBSPD or CRM

Experience

One (1) year of Central Sterile Processing experience required

Special Requirements

Communication Skills: Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contact), Bilingual skills preferred, Writing/Reports (Legible handwriting and coherent writing)

Other Skills

Medical Terms: Surgical/Medical Terminology Knowledge, Critical Thinking, Multi‑task in a fast paced environment, Ability to lead projects, Monitor and interpret results of gauges & Research surgical instruments and supply companies

PC: Skills must be appropriate to meet the job requirements

Work Schedule Weekends, Holidays, Flexible, On Call

Equipment Operated

Sterilization equipment, decontamination equipment, computer/printer, elevator system, scope disinfector, heat sealer, and incubators

Bar code scanners and related computer software

Temperature monitors and equipment gauges

Visual screen monitors, digital camera, and inter‑department paging system
