Overview

Lead Licensed Veterinary Technician- Full-Time at Animal Hospital of Maple Orchard, 6066 West Maple Road, West Bloomfield, MI 48322. Compensation: $23-$30 per hour, based on experience. Schedule: Must be able to work long days (8:00 AM - 7:00 PM), three weekdays per week, with rotating every other Saturday (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM). Hospital Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM; Saturday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

About Us: At Animal Hospital of Maple Orchard, we’re excited to welcome a Lead Licensed Veterinary Technician to our growing and supportive team. We are moving into a brand-new, state-of-the-art 9,000 sq. ft. facility featuring nine exam rooms, a dedicated dental suite, and a CT scanner. Our five-doctor practice focuses on canine and feline care with a collaborative, team-first culture. While not Fear Free certified, we actively implement Fear Free techniques.

What You’ll Do

Safely restraining patients during exams and treatments.

Educating clients on vaccine protocols, preventative care, and general wellness.

Maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Assisting with patient prep and monitoring.

Bring experience in all skillsets as a well-rounded Lead Licensed Veterinary Technician.

Benefits

PTO - 40 hours; Full-time team members receive additional PTO based on years of service.

Holiday Pay: 48 hours to apply towards 6 recognized holidays (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day).

Responsibilities

Deliver patient care under the supervision of a veterinarian (DVM).

Maintain clear and accurate medical, client, and case records.

Explain treatment plans and discharge instructions; respond to basic animal care inquiries and escalate medical questions to veterinarians as needed.

Support medical staff to ensure efficient shift operations and workflow; mentor team members.

Participate in training, quality improvements, and performance evaluations; assist with client services and hospital operations.

Perform cleaning, clinic upkeep, and equipment maintenance; assist with other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technician program.

Current state veterinary technician license in good standing.

One year of experience in the veterinary industry preferred.

Proficiency in laboratory procedures, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental care, and nursing.

Ability to administer SQ, IM, and IV injections; knowledge of common medications and client communication.

Understanding of anesthesia and patient recovery monitoring; ability to recognize and report changes.

Calm, efficient, and able to handle stressful environments; strong communication skills; comfortable with animals of all sizes.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb; lift up to 50 pounds independently and more with assistance.

Vision, hearing, and dexterity to operate medical equipment; ability to work in noisy environments around animals.

Travel Less than 10%
