Mobile Clinic Certified Medical Assistant - Spanish Speaking Required
San Mateo County Health's Public Health, Policy and Planning Division seeks a Certified Medical Assistant for mobile clinic sites throughout San Mateo County. The role is field‑based, focusing on people experiencing homelessness, residents in shelters, and the broader community.
Qualifications: Spanish speaking, strong customer service with vulnerable patients, energetic, flexible team player, focused on patient safety and satisfaction. Will drive mobile health vehicles to locations.
Responsibilities
Rooming patients and taking vital signs
Ordering supplies, stocking supplies
Assisting physicians with procedures
Administering immunizations and other medication as approved by physician
Documenting information into electronic medical record
Patient education
Driving mobile health coach or sprinter van on a regular basis (Class B license required)
Assisting registered nurses and providers with various duties
Perform injections, finger stick tests (glucose), skin tests (PPD), venipuncture, hearing and vision tests, CLIA waived tests
Take patient histories, record vital signs, set up and record EKG results
Qualifications
One year experience in an outpatient clinic, doctor’s office or mobile clinic as a medical assistant (or equivalent education)
Medical Assistant Certificate or completion of accredited program
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification
Class B driver license (obtain within six months of hire)
Strong communication, empathy, ability to lift and transport patients
Knowledge of infection control, diagnostic imaging, safe lifting, total body isolation, patient rights, elder abuse reporting, traffic laws
