MarinHealth Medical Network seeks a Certified Nurse Midwife to play a dynamic role in the Marin community, pairing in-patient work with outpatient clinical care and providing excellent continuity of care to both privately insured and publicly insured patients. The CNM will efficiently and independently run outpatient OB and GYN clinical sessions, assist in C-sections, and attend to obstetrical needs of a varied patient population. Inpatient care at Marin General Hospital will be provided as needed, with nights, weekends and some holiday shifts included. The CNM may also perform 1-3 clinical sessions per week in outpatient settings and may complete administrative tasks for MHMN or serve on hospital committees as the OB representative. Responsibilities

The CNM, in collaboration with Hospitalists on the shift, will provide appropriate care within the scope of midwifery protocols to all OB patients in MarinHealth Medical Center. Provide prenatal care, labor management, and postpartum care for patients in accordance with standardized procedures and protocols and in consultation with a physician. Use advanced midwifery skills to manage normal childbirth and provide antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum care. Take patients\' medical, social and obstetric history; perform physical, vaginal, breast, clinical pelvimetry and OB/GYN exams; order and/or perform approved laboratory and diagnostic exams; consult with and/or refer complications to a physician. Perform limited sonography; first trimester dating and viability assessment, third trimester AFIs and fetal position confirmation. Order medications per midwifery protocols; document care in the electronic health record; evaluate patient progress; consult with other health care team members to develop and manage care and follow-up plans. Independently manage and deliver low-risk patients; co-manage high-risk women when appropriate and manage complications and emergencies until physician arrives; assess labor status and fetal well-being. Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures relevant to pregnancy, labor, delivery and postpartum care. Recognize emergent, abnormal and unsatisfactory obstetric and neonatal conditions and initiate appropriate measures. Initiate and carry out midwifery and medical interventions (e.g., amniotomy, IUPC insertion, fetal scalp electrode, catheterization, IV fluids, cervical ripening balloon, episiotomy, anesthesia and medications); support patients during labor. Assist physicians with operative deliveries as required. C-section surgical assist certification must be completed per hospital requirements. Perform initial newborn assessment; assist with airway establishment and temperature maintenance; begin resuscitation if needed prior to physician arrival. Manage postpartum care; write postpartum orders; provide guidance and referrals to community resources; sign birth certificates. Provide telephone triage and consultation; participate in prenatal and postpartum patient education. With targeted case management requirements, perform Medi-Cal administrative activities to help beneficiaries access medical, social, educational and other services. Prepare, input, and maintain organized, detailed medical records; collaborate with other care team members; provide rounding and medical handoff to the new clinical team daily for inpatient care. Mentor and teach medical and midwifery students; participate in hospital committees as needed; attend in-patient and outpatient CNM meetings and clinic site staff meetings. Other duties as required or requested. Qualifications

Education: Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing or public health (MSN, MPH) required and a midwifery program approved by the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM). License & Certifications: Must have a current California RN and Certified Nurse Midwife license and be certified by the ACNM (or eligible). CA CNM Furnishing License required. Current BLS or ACLS certification from American Heart Association required. Surgical First Assist training certification for C-Section, or equivalent preferred. First Trimester and Third Trimester Sonography training is highly desired. Experience: At least 3 years of experience as a Certified Nurse Midwife preferred. Additional Information
