Overview Experience driving progress, solving problems, and mentoring more junior team members; deeper expertise and applied knowledge within relevant area. Google Data Center Engineering focuses on the physical design of data centers, advancing cutting-edge strategies and ensuring compliant, efficient, environmentally-friendly facilities. You generate ideas, communicate recommendations to senior-level executives and drive implementation alongside facilities technicians. You will be technically focused on field-level implementation and operational support of Google’s expanding data center portfolio, delivering construction and operational processes safely, quickly, and with high quality.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support to data center services and operations teams to define mechanical system design requirements for multiple and simultaneous projects from inception through completion.
Collaborate with internal teams to develop, implement, and manage the data center mechanical designs starting from basis of design to issued for construction data center services documents for new projects build outs, infrastructure upgrades, and renovations.
Gain a detailed understanding of the mechanical project requirements ongoing at the site. Respond to engineering requests for information (RFI) in coordination with the engineer of record (EOR).
Participate in new technology insertions through collaboration with the core engineering team to provide site-specific requirements during the development of site-specific Basis of Design (BOD).
Own and manage all site-level mechanical system issues during the project execution phase.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
3 years of experience in mission critical facility design and construction environments.
Experience in design, construction, and commissioning of chilled water cooling systems, air handling systems, fire suppression systems, plumbing systems, or underground dry/wet utilities.
Experience in the mechanical infrastructure of mission critical facilities.
Experience in the operation of electrical, mechanical, or general construction safety procedures.
Preferred qualifications
Master's degree in Engineering, Business, a relevant field, or a professional engineering license.
Experience in design, construction, and commissioning of mechanical cooling plants, fire suppression systems, fuel oil systems, domestic water systems, and sanitary sewer systems in mission critical facility design and construction environment.
Experience in the areas of design for medium-scale production, structural beams/elements, and international building codes.
Experience in designing modular building scale assemblies.
Knowledge of mechanical engineering and design principles.
Understanding of mechanical tolerances and tolerance analysis.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$174,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
