The position involves coding physician and mid-level provider professional services, managing a high-volume workload accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision. The role requires proficiency in navigating practice management systems, strong communication skills, and the ability to train others. The coder will serve as a liaison between management, physicians, and staff, supporting a team-based approach to care. Responsibilities
Review and analyze medical records to accurately code episodes of care across multiple specialties. Provide coding services supporting healthcare providers, including CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM coding. Determine ProFee and Facility E/M levels following AMA guidelines. Recognize critical care cases and apply diagnosis codes with high specificity. Interpret coding guidelines, adhere to regulatory requirements, and maintain current knowledge of coding standards. Communicate with providers to clarify diagnoses and procedures, ensuring accurate coding. Resolve payer denials and respond to revenue cycle inquiries. Maintain compliance with privacy, security, and ethical standards. Participate in ongoing training and education to improve coding accuracy and stay current with industry changes. Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required; coding certification preferred (e.g., ICD-10, CPT, RHIT, RHIA, CCA, CCS, CPC). Knowledge of coding practices and healthcare reimbursement; ability to work well with others. Proficiency in data entry, MS Office, and practice management software. Preferred: 1 year of professional coding experience in a healthcare setting. Additional Requirements
Ability to achieve a coding credential within one year of employment. Strong communication, critical thinking, and decision-making skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively remotely and manage time efficiently.
