Who We Are The Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) is located on the first floor of Kindred Hospital Philadelphia – Havertown. Our inpatient rehabilitation services are designed for people who have experienced the debilitating effects of an acute injury, impairment, or illness. The goal is to help each individual function as independently as possible through specialized treatment programs for conditions including stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, orthopedic injury, neurological conditions, amputation, and trauma.

About Kindred Hospital Philadelphia – Havertown ARU The Kindred Hospital Philadelphia – Havertown ARU features nine newly renovated rooms, a new gym offering the latest in rehabilitation equipment and technology, and designated rooms for activities and dining. Each patient room provides the amenities one would expect at home, including Wi‑Fi, cable television, private bathrooms, and guest recliners. These clean, cozy settings allow patients to get the rest they need before and after rehab therapy sessions. The ARU also offers outdoor areas that allow patients to practice ambulating or meet with family and friends outside.

How You’ll Contribute You’ll make an impact by evaluating and conducting medically prescribed physical therapy treatment programs. You will provide educational information to patients regarding injury prevention, ergonomics, restorative therapy, and rehabilitation therapy, and supervise physical therapy assistants and aides in performing treatment.

Qualifications And Requirements Applicants should have a bachelor's degree in physical therapy and be a licensed Physical Therapist.

Additional Requirements

Licensed in the state of PA

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification obtained within 30 days of hire

About The Position Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient’s condition

Establishes a plan of care which is appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient according to their capabilities and desires

Plans, prepares and carries out individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain and prevent physical dysfunction in patients

Performs therapy interventions utilizing standard physical therapy techniques and skills as appropriate for the age and condition of the patient

Directs and supervises physical therapy assistants, students, and other support personnel

Assesses competence, delegates specific tasks, and establishes channels of communication

Administers treatment involving application of physical agents, using equipment, moist packs, ultraviolet and infrared lamps, and ultrasound machines. Evaluates, fits, and adjusts prosthetic and orthotic devices and recommends modifications

Identifies and documents goals, anticipated progress and plans for reevaluation
