* Determine work methods and procedures.* Perform skilled maintenance, repairs, inspections, trouble shooting, and installation of any/all heating, ventilating, steam/condensate systems, air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment.* Perform routine maintenance to ensure good operating condition of campus equipment. Report any equipment problems that require further maintenance action.* Maintain chillers and auxiliary equipment (i.e. cooling towers, micro-computers, and water chemistry).* Maintain necessary refrigeration safety records, equipment log sheets, and chemical testing.* Supervise the work of assistants and outside vendors engaged in refrigeration repair.* Respond to customer service calls for space temperature and other system abnormalities. Troubleshoot HVAC systems and make corrections that will bring abnormalities back within established operating parameters.* Maintain campus equipment rooms in a neat, orderly manner.* Provide recommendations for heating, ventilating, air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment, materials and systems for upcoming mechanical projects.Perform other duties as assigned including, but not limited to:* A valid driver’s license.* 2 years of refrigeration/HVAC Degree/Diploma or Journeyman experience with Universal EPA 608 Certification.* Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices involved in the operation and maintenance of large commercial air-conditioning, refrigeration, and chiller equipment.* Knowledge and skills to trouble shoot/repair large commercial systems to include but not limited to:
+ heating systems, pumps, motors, Air handlers, chillers, steam and Condensate heating equipment.* Refrigeration Safety Awareness to include but not limited to safety and accident prevention, practices, procedures, and training.* Knowledge and skills in the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in connection with the repair of large commercial air-conditioning, refrigeration, and chiller equipment.* Ability to perform semi-skilled trades work sufficient to make minor repairs, adjustments, and trouble shoot plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and/or electrical systems and equipment.* Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety measures related to trades work to sufficiently perform the job duties safely and efficiently.* Class B driver’s license with air brake endorsement within 6 months.* Ability to work independently.* Skills in using hand and power tools and other trades equipment.* Skill in locating and adjusting/repairing defects in pneumatic and electric systems and equipment.* Ability to read and interpret sketches, diagrams, and blueprints.* Knowledge of the principles of state heating and ventilating codes, state steam-fitting code, OSHA, and computerized HVAC control systems. (Should have had training and certificate for pneumatic control, electronic controls, and hydronic systems maintenance.)* Working knowledge of electrical systems.* Basic understanding of E-mail, scheduling, and computer monitoring equipment.* Knowledge of steam heating equipment.* Special engineer’s license**Information for new and prospective employees**Welcome to the Minnesota State career site for external applicants.
