Position Description:

The Research Technician I in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology in the Dibra Lab investigates the mechanisms of immune evasion in immunotherapy-resistant cancers, focusing on how TP53 alterations in breast and liver tumors disrupt immune surveillance and promote tumor persistence. The candidate will conduct experiments in vivo and in vitro, analyze experimental data, create graphics, maintain mouse colonies and databases, and perform cell separation, use molecular and cellular techniques, and work with murine models of cancer, genotyping, immunohistochemistry, western blots, and IHC. Mouse husbandry experience would be a plus. Proficiency in computers, Microsoft Word and Excel, and comfort with newer technologies is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct experiments including cell separation, molecular and cellular techniques, sterile techniques, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, RNA and protein assays.

Tissue culture.

Conduct experiments involving cancer mouse models.

Genotyping.

Collate and analyze experimental data.

Make graphics.

Maintain databases.

Maintain mouse colonies and breeding.

Prepare materials and equipment necessary for laboratory tests.

Perform general lab duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with mice.

Experience in sterile technique and cell culture.

Mouse handling experience.

Competencies:

Organized.

Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Proficient in use of computers.

Compensation:

Will be commensurate with candidate experience.
