Employment Type:
Part‑time (limited‑term, may be extended or become permanent)
Pay Range:
$9,159.00 (Authorized HAM rate)
About the Position The Recreation Therapist (RT), CF works under the supervision of the Senior Psychologist, Correctional Facility (CF) or the supervising Psychiatric Social Worker I, CF. The RT, CF develops, implements, and evaluates therapeutic recreation programs for patients within California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) institutions.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and evaluate therapeutic recreation programs for patients.
Instruct and motivate patients in individual and group recreation therapy.
Monitor and document treatment progress, and share recreation therapy assessment information with other health care providers.
Incorporate therapeutic recreational activities into treatment plans.
Maintain order and supervise patient conduct to protect safety of persons and property.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
Graduation from a recognized college with a major in recreation or recreation therapy, including supervised field work.
Additional Requirements:
Registration as a senior will be considered upon providing evidence of graduation or its equivalent and completion of the required field work.
Benefits and Incentives
$10,000 one‑time recruitment and retention stipend (eligible after six months).
$5,000 monthly recruitment and retention differential during the first year (eligible).
$5,000 referral bonus for employees who remain at CCHCS for 90 days.
