Roof Above focuses on individuals experiencing homelessness, offering street outreach, shelter, Rapid Rehousing, and Permanent Supportive Housing. Our services reach over 1,300 individuals daily across nine campuses in Charlotte. Roof Above was formed by the merger of Urban Ministry Center and Men’s Shelter of Charlotte in 2019. Position Summary The program case manager’s responsibility is to provide programming and appropriate supports to Veterans residing on designated property. The case manager ensures basic needs are met while connecting residents to community supports, enrichment activities, and services such as housing resources, mental health counseling, medical care, peer support, employment opportunities, and other relevant supports. Essential Functions

Provide case management services for Veterans in the Contract and GPD program. Manage a caseload of up to 22 Veterans. Conduct home visits and inspections as required by the VA and property standards. Support residents by aiding with service transactions (e.g., applications for rental assistance for long-term housing, referral information for ongoing mental health and medical services). Facilitate weekly life skill groups. Monitor urine drug screens weekly. Conduct breathalyzer as needed. Participate in and lead community meetings, house meetings, and morning check-ins with clients. Join as an active part of the treatment team in decision-making processes. Attend weekly staff meetings to share program updates, property updates, and report progress with residents as appropriate. Assist residents with interactions around landlords, neighbors, and roommates to encourage good neighbor/tenant practices (e.g., care of one’s unit, conflict resolution, paying rent). Collaborate with Clinical Manager in creating individualized, person-centered treatment plans. Coordinate and implement services according to treatment plan. Timely documentation of service notes. Provide transportation as required by VA guidelines. Respond appropriately to resident emergencies, conflicts, and behavioral concerns. Become certified in Homeless Management and Information Systems (HMIS) to enter services and view records (certification provided). Complete any additional requirements requested by the VA. Perform other duties as assigned. Deep commitment to Roof Above core values. Education, Experience And Skills Required

Bachelor’s degree required; preference given to candidates with a background in human services. Minimum of three years of case management experience with adults who experienced homelessness, substance use, and mental health concerns. Experience working with Veteran populations is a plus. Familiarity with motivational interviewing. Working knowledge of service/systems organizations involved in the welfare of people who experienced homelessness in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with clients and service providers. Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks. Self-starter with excellent problem-solving and crisis management skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including computer proficiency. Valid NC driver’s license. Program Overview

Kings on Lamar (KOL) is a substance-free transitional housing community. This campus provides transitional housing for working men and serves as the site for our Veteran transitional housing program (Clinical and GPD). The property consists of 2 buildings and 64 rooms. The Veteran transitional housing program is a substance-free shared housing program that provides individualized and community-building supportive services addressing barriers to self-sufficiency and moving beyond homelessness. Working Environment

Individuals must be able to work with limited supervision, in a fast-paced environment, and provide appropriate boundaries to a large population of male clients with substance use and mental health disorders. Our Values
