Location: Newport News, VA 23601 Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse Unit: Medical Surgical (Med/Surg) Shift: 12-hour day shifts Hours per Week: 36 Duration: 13-week nursing contract Start Date: 09/15/2025 Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1740 - $1860 Registered Nurse Qualifications
Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license – Virginia or compact state BLS Certification (required prior to first shift) ACLS Certification (required prior to first shift) Minimum of 2 years recent bedside clinical experience as a Med/Surg RN Experience in PCU, Critical Care, or Step-Down nursing settings strongly preferred Strong communication, clinical, and teamwork skills Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments within 8 hours of patient admission to develop individualized care plans Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to identify teaching needs and care goals Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and discharge planning from day one Communicate changes in patient status to the healthcare team to ensure continuity and patient safety Supervise and provide direction to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and/or orientees Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff, following all hospital safety protocols Contribute to a positive team environment and participate in unit-based team building activities Assume charge nurse responsibilities as needed following orientation Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education for nursing excellence Benefits
