Job Summary
The Research Program on Cognition and Neuromodulation‑based Interventions (RP‑CNBI), led by Dr. Benjamin Hampstead, is looking for a full‑time Research Technician Intermediate or Associate. The program’s mission is to provide non‑pharmacological treatments for persons with neurologic injury and disease. We focus on methods to assist older adults with a variety of cognitive impairments, using neuropsychological theory, modern neuroimaging methods and a range of non‑pharmacological treatments, such as cognitive rehabilitation and brain stimulation. The successful candidate will perform a range of tasks to support multiple research projects and may assist in the creation of posters, papers, and presentations for scientific meetings. Recruit older adult participants with cognitive changes for non‑pharmacological studies, including screening via electronic medical records, contacting eligible participants or their families over the phone, explaining the study, scheduling visits, following informed consent procedures, and conducting participant visits at the Rachel Upjohn Building and the functional MRI laboratory. Administer, score, and record neuropsychological testing; administer tDCS and/or TMS. Enter data into a secure database, assist with participant compensation, and engage in data management. Required Qualifications
HS Diploma or Associate Degree. Experience working with cognitively impaired older adults or administration of cognitive testing, rehabilitation, or brain stimulation. Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Ability to multi‑task and work well under time constraints and deadlines. Outstanding organizational and record‑keeping skills with meticulous attention to detail. Ability to work well as part of a team, share resources, and adapt to change positively. Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as necessary to support the program. Driver’s license with an excellent driving record and reliable transportation for local travel. 1–3 years full‑time experience (Research Technician Intermediate) or 0–1 year full‑time experience (Research Technician Associate). Desired Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related Health Science discipline strongly preferred. Familiarity with UMHS electronic medical record system. Proficiency in neuropsychological test administration. Knowledge of the Detroit and Ann Arbor area. Benefits
