Overview
LPN, Meade Street Skilled Nursing (FT, Days) – Allied Services. Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Licensed Practical Nurse administers medically prescribed treatment, coordinates nursing care, and monitors the performance of acceptable standards of nursing care on the assigned nursing unit. The LPN must be able to provide care appropriate to the age of the residents served on the unit – adult through geriatric. Knowledge of growth and development over the life span is expected.
Responsibilities
Provide nursing care and administer medically prescribed treatment per policies and procedures.
Coordinate and monitor nursing care on the assigned unit; participate in planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to adult through geriatric residents; understand growth and development across the life span.
Supervise nurse aides (type of supervision: Team Leader; jobs reporting to this position: Nurse Aides).
Qualifications
Education:
Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.
Work Experience:
Minimum of one (1) year of satisfactory experience in geriatric setting preferred.
Special Employment Requirements:
Clearances required: PA State Police criminal history check; PA Department of Aging FBI fingerprint clearance (if applicable).
Licensure:
Possession of a current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nurse Examiners required or eligible for licensure.
Certifications:
CPR Certification required or must be obtained and maintained.
Communication:
Good verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills required for effective interaction with staff, residents, and visitors.
Management:
Good management skills required.
Physical Demands
Heavy work: exerting 50-100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or 25-50 lbs. frequently, and/or 10-25 lbs. constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects.
Position requires ability to transport self throughout facility.
Working Conditions
Works in resident living areas.
Occasional exposure to blood and body substances; exposure to needle sticks possible.
