Travel ICU Registered Nurse – Neuro ICU in Charlotte, NC. This locum tenens opportunity provides expert neurocritical care at a comprehensive stroke center in Charlotte (zip code 28204). You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and support neuro intensive care while experiencing North Carolina nursing opportunities.
ICU Nurse Details
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina (Zip: 28204)
Unit: Neuro ICU – Comprehensive Stroke Center
Employment Type: Travel Nurse (Locum Tenens)
Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
Start Date: October 27, 2025
End Date: January 26, 2026
Shift: 12-hour nights (18:45 – 07:15), 36 hours per week
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Patient Ratios: 2:1 (may flex to 3:1 during high census)
Orientation: 24 hours (2 days or nights)
Estimated Weekly Pay: $1660–$1700
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of recent Neuro ICU RN experience (strong neuro critical care background required)
Active RN license in North Carolina or Compact State (must be in hand at start)
Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
Proficiency with Epic charting system
Ability to float to other critical care units as needed
Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
Clinical skills: ventilator management, IV starts, neuro intensive care, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, CVA/acute stroke management, EVDs, ICP monitoring, post-neurosurgery management, isolation precautions/PPE, lumbar drains
Preferred: Experience with arterial line management
Responsibilities
Deliver advanced neurocritical care to patients with stroke (ischemic, hemorrhagic), craniotomies, carotid stents/endarterectomies, aneurysm coiling/clipping, seizures, depth electrodes, myasthenia gravis, and other neurological conditions
Operate and monitor specialized neuro ICU equipment: EVDs, lumbar drains, Camino, LICOX, NICOM, Arctic Sun
Administer blood products and emergency medications as needed
Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
Provide care for ventilated patients and those requiring continuous IV sedation
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, RT, phlebotomy, radiology, pharmacy, rapid response, transportation)
Maintain strict infection prevention, isolation protocols, and PPE compliance
Float to other critical care units as needed based on census and skill set
