Job Description The Counseling and Wellness Center (CWC) at the University of Florida is offering multiple Adjunct Clinical Postdoctoral Associate positions for the 2026-2027 academic year. The postdoctoral program offers advanced training in university counseling services and is aligned with the American Psychological Association’s competencies. It provides opportunities for generalist practice with the option to specialize in Psychological Assessment, Suicide Prevention and Intervention, or Alcohol and Other Drugs Prevention and Intervention. Program development initiatives may also be available.
The CWC provides a range of services: individual, couples, and group counseling; crisis intervention; stress management and biofeedback; outreach, prevention, and educational programs; consultation services; training and supervision of graduate students; assessment and referral; and teaching, research, and scholarship.
Responsibilities
Deliver individual, couples, and group counseling to students.
Conduct assessments and provide crisis intervention and referral services.
Participate in staff meetings, training seminars, and professional development activities.
Maintain timely completion of administrative functions required by the counseling center.
Collaborate with supervisors to tailor responsibilities toward specialized training goals.
Provide supervision and training to graduate students as needed.
Minimum Requirements
Doctoral degree from an APA or CPA accredited program in counseling psychology, clinical psychology, or a related field.
License‑eligible as a psychologist (or currently licensed as a psychologist).
Completion of an APA accredited doctoral internship in health service psychology.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of three years of professional experience in a mental health setting, including at least one year in a student counseling or student mental health environment.
Administrative and leadership experience within complex systems.
Demonstrated ability to conduct brief psychotherapy and crisis intervention.
Knowledge of Florida laws and ethics pertaining to all mental health fields.
Experience providing outreach and prevention services.
Experience supervising trainees.
Understanding of developmental issues in university populations.
Intermediate computer proficiency (Microsoft Suite, virtual meeting platforms).
Strong communication, interpersonal, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple clinical, consultative, and outreach situations within a multidisciplinary team.
Energy to manage high utilization demands while maintaining positive relationships and a healthy perspective.
Skill in crisis management, short‑term counseling, care plan formulation, and recommendations.
Self‑motivated, self‑directed commitment to high professional ideals, standards, and ethics.
