Full-Time | Multiple Shifts - TBD (typical dayshift is 6:00am – 2:30pm or 5:00am – 1:30pm M-F; night shift is 10:00pm – 6:30am Sun)

About the Role We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical / IT Inspector to join the Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) team within the Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection Division. This position plays a vital role in supporting LAWA’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP), ensuring that all electrical and IT construction activities meet safety regulations, design specifications, and applicable codes.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of high-impact infrastructure projects that improve airport operations and enhance passenger experience across LAWA facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct daily inspections of electrical and IT systems to ensure compliance with NFPA, NEC, LA City, and LAWA standards.

Review and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.

Prepare detailed daily inspection reports documenting activities, progress, and safety observations.

Verify contractor compliance with NFPA 70, 70E, 72, and other applicable codes.

Track and document field changes, time‑and‑material work, and job quantities.

Assist in reviewing contractor payment requests against approved schedules of values.

Support special inspections and testing in coordination with engineers, contractors, and third‑party agencies.

Typical Inspection Areas Include Electrical Installations

Underground utilities, duct banks, high‑voltage switchgear, and electrical panels

Conduit racks, conductors, and grounding systems

Lighting systems (interior and exterior)

Fire life safety systems, including smoke/heat detectors and FM‑200 suppression systems

Electrical shutdowns, lockout/tagout procedures, and breaker coordination

IT Infrastructure Installations

Low‑voltage systems (voice/data, security, access control)

Door card readers, security cameras, and P.A. systems

Communication cabling and equipment rooms

Minimum Qualifications

Current ICC Certification as a Commercial Electrical Inspector (required)

3+ years of experience performing electrical/IT inspections for building construction

Proof of NFPA 70E training within the last 3 years

Proof of Cal‑OSHA 30‑Hour training within the last 4 years

Knowledge of NFPA 70, 70E, 72 standards

Training in fall protection and harness use

Must obtain a LAWA SIDA badge prior to start

Must be able to work any assigned shift (day, swing, or night) as dictated by the project schedule

Preferred Qualifications

Journey‑level electrician experience in public works, institutional, commercial, or industrial settings

Proven track record overseeing code compliance on large‑scale projects

Strong understanding of electrical and IT systems in complex facilities such as airports

Excellent problem‑solving skills to identify and address field deficiencies

Exceptional communication and time management abilities

Open to continuous learning of agency‑specific requirements

Airfield lighting experience (3+ years) preferred for airfield‑related tasks

Technical Skills Proficiency in

Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) ,

Bluebeam ,

Adobe Pro , and

PM Web

(or similar project management platforms). Ability to navigate and manage electronic documentation systems for contract documents, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.

Education High school diploma or equivalent required.

Work Conditions

Ability to walk long distances across terminals and airfield environments

Availability for nights, weekends, modified shifts, and overtime as project schedules require

Flexibility to support accelerated construction timelines as needed
