This position recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. This person will also be responsible for the indirect supervision of other department team members and will keep their managers informed of their performance and activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

: Food Safety & Safety: Always perform tasks according to Safety and Food Safety Standards.

Participate in safety training programs and contribute to the development of safety initiatives to promote a culture of safety. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (SQF, GMP, HACCP, OSHA) and company policies and trainings related to food safety, sanitation, and environmental regulations (e.g., HACCP, Food Safety, GMP’s, Food Fraud/Defense, Allergens, Organic, Gluten Free).

Responsible for implementing the safety program and safety procedures. Responsible for directly supervising the production staff. Indirect supervision of Maintenance/Warehouse crew/Sanitation crew (especially during off shifts). Must provide presence on the floor and office hours. Training and preparation of Production Crew: Goals and objectives, KPI’s, production schedules, training sessions. Responsible for preparing and conducting employee performance reviews (45 days, 90 days, yearly). Coaches, counsels, and provides discipline to personnel as needed. Responsible for enforcing all company rules, policies, and procedures. Maintains accurate (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.) production reports. Responsible for developing and enforcing SOPs as needed. Ensures that areas are maintained clean, safe, and organized at all times. Responsible for reporting equipment malfunctions immediately and verifying that the equipment is maintained in adequate operating condition. Verifies that preventive maintenance program is effective and meets production needs (meeting downtime standards). verifies company compliance to NSF superior rating standards. Maintains up to date and organized production records. Conducts “Preoperational Inspections” as needed. Assists management on new equipment purchasing. Responsible for meeting production standards ensuring that products meet quality first-time standards. Responsible for meeting yield and waste standards. Shall be highly proficient with the company line of products. Responsible for accurately calculating and recording production per line, line efficiencies, waste, and downtime. Supports maintenance and warehouse as needed, ensuring that all personnel from all departments are always productive and by providing feedback to department heads in regards individual performance. Responsible for keeping personnel motivated, productive and well informed. Responsible for maintaining excellent professional employee relations. Responsible for promoting teamwork at all levels and between the departments. Assist the department manager to develop and update job descriptions for each position. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Job Requirements: Education/Certifications and Experience: Bachelor of Science in Management/Operations Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a supervisory role. OR

related AA Degree with a minimum of 6 years’ experience in the Food Manufacturing industry in a supervisory position. Must have experience in USDA, FDA or CA Dept. of food & agriculture, food manufacturing standards. Experience in HACCP and HAZMAT. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: MUST be Bilingual Spanish/English. Must have the ability to manage new and multiple projects from conception to commercialization. Adept at working independently and cross-functionally, managing multiple projects and short timelines, and working in a fast-paced environment. Ability to multitask and work under pressure and time constrained situations and adapt to quickly changing priorities across multiple projects. Strong organizational, communication and analytical Skills. Ability to interact with all management levels. Must have excellent time-management skills. Strong attention to detail skills Must have proficient math skills. Must have proficient problem-solving skills. Must have proficient training, coaching, and interpersonal skills. Must be an excellent team player. Must be self-motivated. Must be computer literate – Word, Excel, etc., Must be able to learn and work with company ERP system. Strong follow-through, integrity, and sound judgment. Must be reliable, punctual and have schedule flexibility including working weekends, Holidays, and off-shifts as needed. Must be able to comply with company attendance and punctuality policy. Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner. Must adhere to a drug and alcohol zero tolerance policy. Must be able to comply with and follow all food safety, and third-party certification policies (SQF, Gluten-Free and Organic, etc.). Supervisory Responsibilities

: Work requires supervising and monitoring performance for a regular group of employees or a work unit, including providing input on hiring / disciplinary and work objectives / effectiveness, and realigning work as needed. Working Conditions and Physical Effort: Continual walking and standing on hard surface, climbing, and descending steps. Will work in front of a computer for a period of time. Continual bending, kneeling, squatting, stooping, reaching, pulling, pushing, and lifting up-to 50 lbs. Driving industrial equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, pallet jacks. Exposed to cool, hot temperatures and noise. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Temperatures ranging to very warm conditions. Loud noises generated from equipment.
