Role description:
Arcadis is currently seeking an experienced
Construction Manager
to join our dynamic team supporting the Gateway Hudson Tunnel Project, one of the most significant infrastructure initiatives in the region. In this role, you will lead the on-site management of complex heavy civil construction activities, ensuring safe, timely, and high-quality project execution. Arcadis is a part of the MPA Delivery Partner team, charged with supporting the Gateway Development Commission delivering the Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP). We are building this delivery team by combining our existing global and local experts and bringing on the additional required talent that will be necessary to deliver the HTP. Role Accountabilities: Monitor and evaluate the performance of contractors and consultants, ensuring that they meet project requirements and deliverables. Ensure that contractors and consultants adhere to the project schedule, identifying and addressing any delays or issues that may arise. Coordinate and manage all aspects related to safety, making sure that contractors comply with the client's safety policies and conduct safety assessments when required. Verify that the contractor's work aligns with the construction contract, project plans, specifications, and other relevant contract documents to prevent defects and deficiencies. Build trust and partnership with colleagues, client representatives, and contractor personnel through effective communication and interpersonal skills. Interface with client representatives, program managers, design-builders, and other stakeholders to facilitate effective collaboration and smooth project execution. Manage conflicts professionally and objectively, fostering positive relationships with project sponsors and stakeholders. Utilize your experience in managing large teams to ensure high team performance, morale, defined roles and responsibilities, and strong collaboration. Demonstrate technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: Earthworks, Utilities, Environmental clearances/permits, Tunnels, Rail Systems, or heavy civil works. Required Qualifications: A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. PMP, CCM, or PE license. 15+ years of experience in Project Management, Construction Management, or Construction contracting, specifically focusing on complex heavy civil engineering projects. Key Skills and Abilities : Demonstrated expertise in construction methodologies, particularly in heavy civil engineering including tunneling, rail, and large-scale infrastructure projects. In-depth knowledge of construction safety standards, regulations, and best practices to maintain a safe work environment. Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams with strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, ensuring collaboration across contractors, consultants, and stakeholders.
