Job Description The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with Medical Providers and/or Medical Assistants to examine and treat GoHealth Urgent Care patients. Responsibilities include performing and analyzing patient x‑rays, reporting results to Medical Providers, and providing administrative support for efficient operation of GoHealth Urgent Care Centers. The RT supports patient care management, organization, and communication.
Job Requirements Education
Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program required.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Work Experience
Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
Required Licenses/Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire.
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required.
Applicable state licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required.
Essential Functions
Responsible for x‑ray services as needed.
Under the direction of the clinical provider, perform x‑ray services for patients by applying x‑ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients in all age groups from newborn to elderly.
Ensure patients are positioned correctly on or in front of equipment and protected during use.
Push patient in a wheelchair.
Patient Preparation and Rooming
Inform technical staff of patient flow.
Prepare patients for examination, including conducting interviews to verify patient information, record medical history, confirm purpose of visit.
Perform preliminary physical tests (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) and elevate critical cases to the provider as needed.
Conduct point of care testing as needed (i.e., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG) and provide patient information to providers.
Administrative
Responsible for maintenance of medical records and scanning charts to patient files.
Conduct courtesy call‑backs for patient follow‑up on care.
Follow operating instructions to perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control logs for equipment, troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets as needed.
Other Responsibilities Include
Collaborate with the ordering/treating Provider to determine which procedures or views will best assist in accurate diagnoses and treatment.
Support clinic operations to keep the center running smoothly.
Explain procedures to patients, ensuring their comfort and safety, and answer their questions.
Accurately positioning patients and equipment for optimal imaging results.
Select proper ionizing factors by adjusting/setting radiographic controls to capture clear, high‑quality diagnostic images.
Perform routine maintenance, cleaning of X‑ray equipment, and manage necessary supplies.
Adhere to strict radiation safety protocols and implement ALARA ( low as reasonably achievable).
Maintain accurate patient records and logging of completed procedures in electronic systems and/or logbooks as required.
Verify image quality and ensure images are sent to radiologists for interpretation.
Knowledge
Knowledge of X‑ray procedures and protocols.
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X‑ray testing, including body mechanics and patient movement.
Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.
Skills
Positioning patients properly for the X‑ray procedure.
Identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisors.
Following infection control and radiological safety procedures.
