About This Position The Greenwood School of Music seeks applications for a Teaching Assistant Professor of Bands, with a start date of July 2026. This is an 11‑month non‑tenure track appointment with a three‑year term and the possibility of renewal. Reappointments are based on performance and availability of funding.

Responsibilities The primary focus of this position is to assist the Director and Associate Director of Bands in directing the athletics bands, notably the 325‑member Cowboy Marching Band. This individual will coordinate music selection and drill design, music arranging, recruitment activities, band camp logistics, and student leadership development. Additional responsibilities include:

conducting the OSU Concert Band and University Band and directing the OSU Spirit Band (basketball pep band),

teaching music education courses, including marching band methods; and supervising student teachers in instrumental music education in area public schools,

other assigned courses will be based on the candidate’s areas of expertise.

All faculty are expected to maintain active scholarly or artistic engagement and participate in service at the departmental, university, and professional levels.

About The Michael and Anne Greenwood School of Music The Michael and Anne Greenwood School of Music currently has 43 full‑time faculty members (of which 31 are tenured or tenure‑track), combined with a full‑time professional staff of 9. There are approximately 300 students enrolled in degree programs that include the BA, BM, BS, and MM, with programs in music education, performance, music and music industry. Required Qualifications

Master's degree

3 years of public school teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications

Earned doctorate is preferred (DMA or DM)

Evidence of successful teaching experience at the university level preferred
