Overview
Arcellx is a public, clinical-stage biotechnology company reimagining cell therapy by engineering innovative immunotherapies for patients with cancer and other incurable diseases. Our mission is to destroy cancer and advance humanity by developing cell therapies that are safer, more effective, and more broadly accessible. Our team is based in Rockville, Maryland, and Redwood City, California. We hire exceptional people in a diverse, supportive, and informal environment that enables everyone to do their best work. What Matters to Us Living our core values is essential to a high-performing, inclusive, and collaborative work environment. We look for candidates who demonstrate strong values alignment and bring different backgrounds, viewpoints, and abilities to the team. Arcellx Core Values Start with authenticity: We foster an inclusive environment where each person can bring their authentic self to work. Think ‘we’ before ‘me’: We prioritize collective success, collaborating and supporting one another to achieve our shared goals. Embrace the challenge: We deliver exceptional results by working with shared determination and a commitment to doing what’s right. Responsibilities
As a Scientist within our Cell Biology group, you will have a direct impact on our drug pipeline as a lab-based contributor and functional area lead within the project setting. Your work will drive discovery, characterization, and optimization of novel cell-based therapies in collaboration with a cross-functional team. Contribute to one or more pipeline programs, working with cross-functional teams to ensure timely generation and dissemination of critical program data to enable data-driven decisions. Design and execute experiments independently with minimal supervision, and effectively plan and organize work activities and prioritize task completion. Serve as a functional area lead within a project setting; help derive timelines, plan, and execute to achieve project goals. Stay up to date with relevant technical and intellectual scientific expertise in tumor biology and cancer modelling, particularly as it relates to CAR-T cell biology or other cell-based therapies. Qualifications
Skills and Experience We Look For Master’s degree with 4-6+ years of research experience in the pharmaceutical industry or PhD-level scientist with relevant experience. Backgrounds of interest include: Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T-cells or other cell-based cancer therapeutics T-cell signaling and/or cytokine signaling and cytokine biology Solid Tumor Immunology (Tumor Infiltrating Lymphocytes, Myeloid Derived Suppressor Cells, Tumor Associated Macrophages, Regulatory T-cells) Expertise in manipulating immune cells, particularly T cells, including purification, transfection/transduction, activation and expansion. Experience with in vivo models of human cancer, including cell line derived xenografts or patient-derived xenografts. Expertise in complex immune cell assays including multiparameter flow cytometry, in vitro cell-based assays (e.g. cytotoxicity, proliferation, degranulation), live cell analysis, and multiplex assays. Familiarity with methods to pre-clinically assess efficacy, specificity, and safety of CAR-T cells or other novel immuno-oncology agents. Commitment to ethical scientific investigations and rigorous experimental methods. Ability and desire to multitask and function in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment. Interpersonal skills that promote a collaborative and productive lab environment. Rewards and Benefits
Our people are our greatest asset, and supporting their well-being is essential to delivering on our mission. We offer strong compensation and benefits, including: Base salary range: $105,000 - $120,000 per year. Placement within the range depends on experience. Annual bonus based on company goals and an equity (RSU) grant. Relocation assistance if required. Market-leading benefits: 100% coverage for medical, dental, and vision for employees and dependents, unlimited vacation, a 3-day weekend every month, fully-paid parental leave for up to 6 months, tuition reimbursement, 401k employer contribution, and more.
