The Speech and Language Pathology Department is widely recognized for its excellent programs dealing with adult communication disorders resulting from brain injury, voice problems, swallowing disorders, or oral‑motor dysfunction. We also offer lymphedema services at this location. Scope Of Work
The Speech‑Language Pathologist is an independent health‑care professional who provides individualized patient care that assesses and treats speech, language, social communication, cognitive communication, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders in children and adults per physician referral. The professional evaluates referred patients, establishes patient‑ and family‑centered goals, and develops and executes treatment plans to promote or maximize independence in the discharged setting. The staff SLP also participates in performance improvement and educational opportunities that promote the growth and development of the department and profession. Standard Qualifications
Education / Training: Master’s Degree, Certificate of Clinical Competence (ASHA) or Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY), ASHA. Work Experience: Experience in adult/children neurological speech and language disorders, evaluation and treatment, including aphasia, apraxia, dysarthria, dysphagia, laryngectomy, stuttering, and voice disorders. Experience with head and neck cancer, tracheostomies, cognition, TBI, dementia, and modified barium swallow studies. Certification, Licensure, Registration: Certificate of Clinical Competence, American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association, (required) or Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY), American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association.
