Overview
The job involves helping patients who have problems with movement or need care for wounds. The person will create a suitable care plan that follows all rules and best practices.
They will use specific tests and proven methods to make sure the treatment is working. The role includes carrying out different treatments, such as hands-on therapy, guiding patients as they walk, suggesting exercises, using various devices, and taking care of wounds.
Responsibilities
Develop and follow a care plan for patients with movement problems or wounds in accordance with rules and best practices.
Use tests and proven methods to assess treatment effectiveness.
Perform treatments including hands-on therapy, gait assistance, exercise guidance, use of devices, and wound care.
Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans; evaluate effectiveness and refer to other services as needed.
Provide advice and support to patients, families, caregivers, and others involved in the patient's care; communicate with supervisors and team members about patient status and challenges.
Prepare a discharge summary when appropriate; document important details in the electronic system and maintain patient records per policy.
Track time spent on treatments according to regulations; participate in meetings and ongoing training and company events.
Arrange necessary equipment or supplies following rules; supervise and assist physical therapist assistants, rehabilitation aides, or students.
Follow the rules set by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the relevant state during practice.
Qualifications
At least 1 year of experience as a physical therapist – Required
Experience in long-term care or rehabilitation settings – Required
License to practice in Missouri – Required
Missouri allows licenses from the Compact Agreement.
