Effectively partners with RMs, market leadership, senior management, and credit officers to originate, monitor, maintain and grow profitable Wholesale Banking relationships. Perform due diligence, credit analysis, underwriting, recommend borrower and facility risk assessment ratings, and prepare credit approval packages for new and existing loans, extensions, modifications, and amendments. Perform ongoing portfolio management, monitoring, and risk management activities to ensure adherence to credit policy, procedures, business strategy, and regulatory guidelines. Ensure loan agreements are accurately documented as approved and monitored for compliance. Prepare annual or administrative reviews to assess client and guarantor financial performance, covenant compliance, and to update borrower and facility risk ratings; ensure reviews are completed within target dates. Communicate effectively with internal partners (loan operations, credit services, credit review, audit, treasury services, etc.) throughout underwriting and portfolio management. Review third-party due diligence documents (appraisals, environmental reports, inspections, construction budgets, projections, etc.) and form opinions as needed. Interact with outside legal counsel for loan documentation, resolving documentation issues. Participate with RMs in client/prospect calls to gain an in-depth understanding of the client and their business. Additional Duties
Partner with the RM in preparing due diligence and analysis for opportunity memos for new-to-bank client relationships. Serve as a point of contact for the client or liaison to the Credit Delivery Team and other partners as appropriate. Participate with the RM in discussions and presentation of credit requests to local leadership and credit officers. Work with the RM and CCA to assist with client servicing, collecting borrower and guarantor financials, monitoring loan maturities and past due loans, etc.; review borrowing base certificates and other documentation per loan agreement monitoring. Review borrower electronic files for completeness and accuracy of filings. Monitor client operating performance against original underwriting and projections upon receipt of required reporting information. Verify coding, borrower and facility risk ratings, and expected loss ratios in the loan system. Conduct appropriate due diligence and industry/market analysis to evaluate client and guarantor credit capacity and quality. Stay informed of economic conditions and legislation affecting client relationships and the Wholesale Line of Business. Pre-closing documentation review of new/renewal lending documents for completeness and accuracy per loan approval. Collaborate with RM and CCA to monitor and resolve document exceptions and participate in loan agreement exception tracking calls as needed. Notify leadership of significant movements in borrower risk assessments. Assist in preparing Watch Reports and present to Watch Committee when needed. Respond timely to credit reviews and provide missing documentation as required. Develop advanced underwriting skills and analytical techniques through collaboration with managers, credit officers and senior associates. Safeguard client information in adherence to bank guidelines. Support and assist other Portfolio Managers as workload dictates. Participate in special projects as lead or contributor; share ideas and concerns openly. Maintain knowledge of bank policies and applicable laws and regulations (e.g., AML, GLBA, OFAC, CRA, Fair Lending, BSA). Complete annually required bank training assignments. Report any procedures or processes not meeting regulatory requirements, including potential fraud. Identify and recommend cross-sell opportunities for ancillary bank products. Annual involvement in civic, community, or industry-related activity is encouraged. Supervisory Responsibilities
May supervise Minimum Education, Experience & Knowledge
Bachelor’s degree required; preferred in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field. 7+ years of credit analysis, underwriting, portfolio management, relationship management, or related commercial banking experience. On-the-job credit analysis training or certificate program required. Advanced skills in underwriting larger complex commercial credits; knowledge of syndication and participation credits preferred. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Ability to read and interpret financial statements, reports, and regulations; capable of preparing reports and presenting information. Strong analytical and financial analysis skills; ability to perform quick calculations. Understanding of lending policy, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory requirements. Ability to multi-task and work under tight timelines; self-motivated and well organized. Customer service orientation and presentation skills; proficient in Microsoft Office; ability to learn new software systems. Essential Mental & Physical Requirements
Ability to travel if required to perform essential job functions. Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines. Ability to operate related equipment and read required documents. Ability to lift/carry approximately 25 pounds if required; accommodations possible as needed. Equal Opportunity
