Hello, Location :: Austin, TX Contract Job Summary We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented
Junior Lab Technician
to support hardware validation and lab operations. You will work with computer hardware including motherboards, processors, and ASICs, perform system assembly and testing, and assist in first-level board debugging and lab equipment maintenance. Assemble and test new hardware (e.g., install processors, heat sinks, HDDs, sockets). Perform system boot tests and verify board functionality. Use lab tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, logic analyzer) to troubleshoot hardware issues. Image systems with Windows and Linux OS; flash BIOS and install drivers. Manage shipping, inventory, and logistics for hardware and ASICs across global teams. Maintain lab equipment (thermal heads, chillers, analyzers). Coordinate rework activities with internal/external teams (soldering, board mods, etc.). Track hardware status and communicate updates to engineering teams. Support inventory control using internal systems like SPR, Agile, and Allegro. Qualifications
Education:
AS or BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Technology, or related field. Experience:
3–5 years in a hardware lab, test engineering, or similar role. Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of PC hardware and architecture. Experience using test and measurement tools (oscilloscope, multimeter, logic analyzer). Comfortable with Windows OS; Linux experience is a plus. Familiarity with BIOS flashing, driver installation, and system imaging. Understanding of GDDR/LPDDR memory subsystems is a plus. Knowledge of thermal testing equipment (chillers, thermal heads) is a strong plus. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication in English. Ability to follow procedures and document results accurately. Team player with a proactive attitude and ability to manage multiple tasks. Preferred Experience (Bonus)
Signal integrity testing knowledge. Experience with PC system integration and hardware compatibility troubleshooting. Working knowledge of Agile, Allegro, or similar inventory/engineering tools. Seniority level
