Qualifications:
Master’s Degree, Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC), or working towards certification (CF-SLP), in Speech-Language Pathology, and active licensure in the State of New Hampshire.
Pinkerton Academy’s Speech-Language Pathologists’ most important role is to improve the communication needs of our students. The Speech-Language Pathologist will facilitate individual and group speech therapy sessions with identified students, along with consultation to faculty, staff, and other professionals on the student’s team. The Speech-Language Pathologist will have a strong working knowledge of service delivery models, evaluation of student needs, and clinical interventions that target identified areas.
The Speech-Language Pathologist is a key member of Special Education teams who embodies the collaborative approach to support students with strategies that are research-based, student-specific, and compassionate. The Speech-Language Pathologist will serve as a leader to our Speech-Language Assistant(s) through guidance, training, and scheduling. In addition, the Speech-Language Pathologist supports students through a variety of our special education programs, working as part of a team with our other Speech-Language Pathologists.

Essential Roles Of The Speech-Language Pathologist
Leadership and Supervision Provides individual and group speech therapy as outlined in student IEPs. Acts as a consultant to special education staff to ensure that speech and language/communication goals/objectives are reinforced and measured through each individual student's academic work. Exchanges ideas with regular education teachers to ensure implementation of speech-language and communication goals/objectives through classroom lessons (i.e. exam reconstruction, presentation of oral lessons). Interviews and administers specific diagnostic instruments, including recommendations, as part of the special education evaluation and identification process. Attends IEP team meetings when speech and language/communication needs are identified Designs and implements speech and language goals/objectives for individualized education plans each year. Provides supervision and coordinates Speech Assistant schedule with other speech staff. Provides individual and group instruction. Completes required progress reports for each speech and language/communication student on caseload. Additional duties as assigned by the Special Education Director or designee.

Displays respect for all members of the school community. Creates collaborative relations beyond Pinkerton Academy (i.e., contracted service delivery professionals, WTL employers, etc.). Promotes progress of the school community by engaging in committees and professional organizations that enact change. Engages in the other school functions as a representative of the department and school (i.e. course night, graduation, freshman field day, open house). Supports student involvement and engagement outside of the classroom.
