Responsibilities
As a Respiratory Therapist at CHI St. Joseph's Health,
you’ll join an established team of Registered Respiratory Therapists who share your passion for caring for patients experiencing breathing issues. Our Respiratory Therapists are highly trained in delivering specialized cardiopulmonary care, including breathing techniques, ventilator management, nebulizer treatments, oxygen therapies, external ventilation support, and some pulmonary function assessments. Your success in this role depends on your keen assessment skills and a sense of urgency. You have the ability to remain calm and focused in emergent situations. Your critical thinking skills will enhance your care plans, as you know what to do and the expected outcomes. About us: Administer respiratory modalities including, but not limited to, oxygen administration, nebulizer treatment, invasive and non-invasive ventilator management, and cardiopulmonary diagnostic testing such as EKG, Holter Monitor, and pulmonary function testing. Work well within a team environment with providers, nursing staff, and the Respiratory Care Department. Document and charge all modalities delivered into the electronic medical record. Responsible for cleaning and proper assembly of equipment used within the department. Assess and evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness of therapy based on patient’s age, cognitive and physical abilities, and/or developmental needs. Make recommendations for changes in specific modes of therapy. Educate patients and arrange home respiratory care services and follow-up assessments using language and materials appropriate for the patient's age, cognitive, and physical abilities, and/or developmental needs. Assume responsibility for personal and professional growth through participation in department meetings, in-service programs, and continuing education programs. Maintain established department policies, procedures, and objectives concerning quality assurance, safety, environmental conditions, and infection control. **$20,000 sign-on incentive**
Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program. Associate in Applied Science Degree in Respiratory Therapy. Current Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) issued by the NBRC and licensed by the Minnesota Department of Health. Preferred: Clinical experience preferred, but not required.
