Position Overview
Shriners Children’s Ohio is dedicated to the treatment of pediatric burns and specializes in plastic and reconstructive surgery. Our team’s experience and expertise in burn treatment, cleft lip and palate, complex wound and skin conditions, and plastic and reconstructive surgery make Shriners Children’s Ohio a first choice of care. Part‑Time Point of Care Coordinator
In this role, you will oversee Point of Care laboratory procedures, liaison to evaluate other contracted laboratory services, and manage result tracking. Duties are performed independently and/or with minimal direction. You participate in development of standard operating procedures and administrative functions. Responsibilities
Perform or oversee a range of Linerarity, Controls, and new technically CLIA waived and moderate complexity procedures; operate existing POC equipment and follow established procedures. Participate in the introduction and implementation of new POC procedures and in the evaluation of new POC instruments; contribute to Clinical Lab Quality Assurance Program, instrument selection, preventive maintenance, safety test procedures and reagent purchases; write procedure manuals or other reference materials. Professionally interact and communicate appropriately with staff, patients, families, and visitors. Monitor and document laboratory results into the Shrine System. Perform and document preventive maintenance and function checks for POC equipment and assure proper operation of instrumentation. Participate in laboratory charge reconciliation. Perform a variety of comprehensive registration and scheduling functions. Communicate openly, accurately and timely with patients, families and interdisciplinary team members to ensure effective therapeutic interventions. Required
Bachelor’s degree in chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution. 4 years of clinical laboratory experience. Preferred
American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certificate. Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) certification.
