We are a leader in the rehabilitation industry providing comprehensive, high quality, innovative, and outcome-driven physical therapy across the post-acute continuum of care. As our team continues to grow, we are excited to welcome a full-time licensed Speech Language Pathologist (SLP). You will provide speech-language pathology services to patients impaired by cognitive/communicative or swallowing dysfunction, including assessment, treatment planning, and implementation of treatment plans.
This role will require you to travel regularly within Oakland, Macomb, and Wayne Counties. Responsibilities: Conduct speech-language pathology screenings and evaluations to determine patient cognitive/communicative and/or swallowing status using standardized tests and measures. Develop and implement treatment plans to reach patients’ highest potential for independence consistent with the professional and ethical standards of the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA). Assess effects of treatment on an ongoing basis and modify the patient’s plan to achieve maximum benefit. Check, instruct, assign, and review the work of CFY as assigned and in accordance with ASHA standards. Confer with physicians and other practitioners to obtain additional patient information, suggest revisions in treatment program, and integrate speech therapy treatment with other aspects of patient’s health care. Provide documentation to maintain quality of the medical record as it relates to accuracy, continuity of care, reimbursement guidelines, and agency requirements. Participate, as requested, in patient and family care conferences. Educate and instruct patients and family/caregiver(s) in treatment procedures to be continued when not in therapy or as a home exercise program. Participate in Quality Assurance activities as directed by Agency Administrator and/or site-specific Director of Therapy. Promote current standards of clinical practice through participation in internal and external continuing education, in-service programs, and certifications sponsored by the agency. Participate in new program development to expand the clinical services of the rehabilitation agency. Participate in agency meetings and additional activities as directed to facilitate effective agency operations. Observe patient confidentiality at all times. Abide by all safety, infection control, and other guidelines as required. Rotate to other clinic locations to meet patient care needs and other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program. ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence. Licensure as required by the State of Michigan. Ability to react effectively to the needs of patients and their families. Physical ability to exert force up to 20 pounds.
