To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them clean, sanitary and orderly, and to perform other related tasks.
Essential Responsibilities
High dusting using a treated high duster in a counter‑clockwise direction, focusing on high spaces like lights, curtain tips, vents and ledges.
Sanitizing and spot‑cleaning with a germicidal solution in a counter‑clockwise pattern, including surfaces below shoulder height such as ledges, chairs, phones, countertops and trashcans.
Bathroom cleaning: wipe sink, toilet seat and bowl, use a mop and solution to clean the rim of the bowl, check and refill soap and paper dispensers daily.
Empty trash cans, remove liners if liquid remains, wipe the can and replace with a clean liner.
Floor dusting or vacuuming with a treated dust mophead or vacuum, starting at the back of the room moving toward the door, cleaning under all furniture and around corners.
Grounds care: clean outside areas throughout the day, remove trash, cigarette butts, wipe benches, vending machines and windows; spot clean spills.
Public common area cleaning: mop main hallways, clean glass, care for plant planters, high dust windows twice weekly, check corners for debris.
Food court duties: remove trash, sanitize tables, spot‑clean spills, manage trays, police outside eating areas.
Floor sanitizing: mop from back to front, clean under furniture and behind doors, review steps for accuracy and completeness.
Customer relations: greet customers, answer questions politely, report broken or out‑of‑order items, maintain quiet, courteous behavior, keep a clean appearance.
Perform other duties as assigned or directed by a supervisor or account manager, possibly including floor care, strip‑and‑wax, carpet extraction, auto scrub and buffing.
Qualifications
Basic knowledge of janitorial work operations, methods, materials and equipment.
Basic safe work practices, including use of toxic and non‑toxic chemicals per MSDS sheets.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, communicate with co‑workers and supervisors.
Physical capability to walk, stand, sit, lift/carry 1–30 lbs., push/pull, climb stairs and ladders, kneel, crouch, bend, and reach while performing cleaning tasks.
Knowledge of operating powered and non‑powered janitorial equipment, interpreting written instructions and chemical warning labels.
Detail orientation in cleaning tasks and maintaining safety standards, with depth perception, hand‑eye coordination and use of cleaning tools and equipment.
