The Surgical PA Service at Northern Dutchess Hospital and Vassar Brothers Medical Center is seeking to add a board-certified per diem Physician Assistant to join its team. We are a hospital-based group that offers a supportive and team‑based environment with exposure to multiple surgical subspecialties.
Responsibilities currently include OR first assist coverage as well as perioperative management, inpatient rounding and consult coverage. This position is a great opportunity for growth and contains a high volume of DaVinci Robotic Surgery cases.
Responsibilities
OR First Assisting – surgical PA services first assist in the OR for specialties including general, plastic, spine, bariatric and OB/GYN cases.
Rounding – surgical PA rounds on general surgery patients daily with a team‑based approach.
Consults / Admissions – cover admissions and consults for general surgeons.
Call Coverage – on call from home; night coverage responsibilities include first assisting emergent OR cases, admissions and consults.
Floor Procedures – responsible for floor procedures such as NG tube insertion and removal, wound VAC and dressing changes, bedside I & D.
Cross‑coverage in scheduling between Northern Dutchess Hospital and Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program and NCCPA certified with strong surgical and patient management experience.
At least one to three years of surgical experience and/or surgical residency trained candidates preferred, but new graduates and new nurse practitioners with RNF certification and surgical experience will be considered.
