SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Director of Behavior/Mental Health and in coordination with the Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services, the Behavior/Mental Health Specialist supports the implementation of appropriate behavioral and mental health supports through a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) from early childhood through high school. The specialist provides training, coaching, and technical support within Eaton RESA’s service area. Responsibilities include behavioral observations, data collection, team data analysis, development of functional behavior assessments and intervention plans, and capacity building among staff. The specialist works with students, families, and staff to identify barriers to success and develops strategies to improve attendance, reduce behavioral incidents, and promote family engagement. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with school staff to enhance data collection, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making to support MTSS implementation. Assist with behavioral health assessments and develop data collection resources. Develop or assist in creating treatment and behavioral intervention plans with input from relevant stakeholders. Provide behavioral health interventions and counseling to support student well-being. Gather and interpret information on student behavior to support success. Review and assess the effectiveness of services and interventions. Conduct professional development and coaching on restorative practices and evidence-based behavioral/mental health practices. Identify barriers to mental health support implementation and communicate these to staff and administrators. Meet regularly with school teams to review resources and determine referral needs for additional services. Consult with clinic staff and connect families to community resources. Perform other duties as assigned. This list is not exhaustive and duties may vary. QUALIFICATIONS
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS (if applicable): Licensed Master’s Level or higher in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related Mental Health field. CPR and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Certification (training provided as needed). Desired: Full licensure. EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
Required: Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, or related field. Desired: Three or more years of experience in human services, behavioral health, or related fields. Experience supporting youth mental health, data collection, professional development, and multidisciplinary teamwork. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Experience with behavioral interventions and mental health supports. Knowledge of crisis intervention, de-escalation, conflict resolution, and social skills development. Experience with positive behavior supports and accommodations. Ability to develop and implement intervention programs for youth with behavioral and emotional challenges. Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders. Knowledge of youth development and community resources. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle stressful situations. Proficiency with technology and record-keeping software. PHYSICAL EFFORT & WORKING CONDITIONS
