This defined retirement benefit requires a 12% monthly contribution rate and includes a 100% employer match on Day 1* Learn more at**We Require*** Two years of professional experience in program or project management for emergency operations* Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, emergency management, communications, or a related field* A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis**Other Requirements*** Valid Arizona driver's license upon hire* Completion of FEMA IS-100, IS-200, ICS-300, ICS-400, IS-700, IS-800, IS-120.c, IS-230.d, IS-235.c, IS-240.b, IS-241.b, IS-242.b, IS-244.a, and IS-2200 or the ability to complete within one year of the hire date* Experience utilizing National Incident Management System (NIMS), Incident Command System (ICS), Comprehensive Preparedness Guide (CPG) 101, and Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP)* Works a rotational schedule as an on-call duty officer on a recurring basis after hours and on weekends**We Also Value*** Master's degree in emergency management or Homeland Security from an accredited college or university* Experience working in local, state, tribal, or federal emergency management* Experience working in an Emergency Operations Center during a disaster or emergency* FEMA Professional Development Series (PDS) and Advanced Professional Series (APS) Certificates of Completion* Completion of or progress towards the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) Certified Emergency Manager or Associate Emergency Manager**Job Contributions*** Assist in the planning, implementation, training, and exercise associated with emergency management programs and projects, including Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) incident response and preventative radiological/nuclear detection and interdiction initiatives* Develop, coordinate, and/or conduct all-hazards training and exercises for the County, cities, towns, and related government and partner agencies per departmental Training and Exercise Plans and Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program guidance* Develop, coordinate, and evaluate emergency operations plans and/or continuity of operations plans of the County, cities, towns, and related government and partner agencies* Assist in preparing and coordinating the County's all-hazards emergency and disaster-related preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery standard operating procedures/guides and associated checklist* Serve as essential personnel in the County, partner city, town, and tribal nation's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during emergencies and exercises on a 24/7 basis* Conduct and support community all-hazards education and outreach activities, and work with county departments to enhance employee and family preparedness* Serve as the department's principal point of contact for assigned department programs or projects* Abide by policies and procedures to provide timely, coordinated, and accurate crisis and emergency risk information to the public, media, and local governmental agencies* Develop and implement new initiatives to maximize effectiveness and efficiency in pursuit of departmental, County, and regional all-hazard preparedness, response, and recovery objectives* Other Job Duties as assigned**Working Conditions*** Exerting 50-100 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10-20 lbs. constantly* Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions**Selection Procedure*** Only the most qualified candidates will be considered* Consideration will only be given to candidates who submit online applications* Candidates will be contacted primarily through email and their Workday online application profile* Must pass a pre-employment background and/or fingerprint investigation as required by statute or policy, including drug and alcohol testing requirements for positions designated as safety-sensitiveMaricopa County is an equal opportunity employer.**Apply Now!**in 2024.
